Ham & Balsamic Onion Sandwich with Chipotle Pepper Sauce


  • 1 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 3 oz. thinly sliced red onion
  • 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 1 sourdough roll, horizontally cut in half, toasted
  • 1 oz. shredded romaine lettuce
  • 1 oz. sliced tomato
  • 4 oz. sliced ham
  • 2 slices (1/2 oz. each) Swiss cheese
  • 2 oz. ketchup
  • 1 tsp. dried chipotle peppers


  • 1. Sauté onion in oil in small skillet on medium-high heat until translucent. Stir in balsamic vinegar. Simmer until almost all the vinegar is evaporated. Remove from heat.
  • 2. Place lettuce and tomato on bottom half of roll. Top with ham, cheese and onion.
  • 4. Cover with top of roll. Serve with combined ketchup and chipotle pepper mixture.
