Carolina Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. thinly sliced red onion
  • 2 oz. julienne cut carrot
  • 1/4 cup minced fresh garlic
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
  • 4 Kaiser rolls, horizontally cut in half, toasted
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 oz. shredded romaine lettuce
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 12 oz. sliced Ham-Off-The-Bone
  • 8 slices (1/2 oz. each) Cheddar cheese

Directions

  • 1. Combine onion, carrot, garlic and parsley. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • 2. Spread 1/2 Tbsp. barbecue sauce over cut surface of each roll.
  • 3. Divide lettuce and sliced tomatoes evenly over bottom half of rolls.
  • 4. Top evenly with ham and cheese. Place on oven-proof plate under heated salamander or broiler 1 to 2 minutes or until ham is heated and cheese is melted. Place over sliced tomato.
  • 5. Divide salsa evenly over cheese. Cover with top of roll and serve.
