Ham and Bacon Melt with Mushroom-Apple Slaw


  • 4 oz. sliced ham
  • 2 strips cooked drained bacon
  • 2 slices (1/2 oz. each) Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 oz. small button mushrooms
  • 1 oz. thin diagonally sliced celery,
  • 2 oz. unpeeled cored thinly sliced Granny Smith apple
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 oz. shredded romaine lettuce
  • 1 slice tomato
  • 1 sourdough roll, horizontally cut in half, toasted


  • 1. Layer ham, bacon and cheese on a quarter-sheet pan. Heat under salamander or broiler 1 minute or until cheese is melted.
  • 2. Meanwhile, caramelize mushrooms in oil in small skillet on medium heat.
  • 3. Gently toss celery, apple and lemon juice in a bowl.
  • 4. Place lettuce and tomato on bottom half of roll. Top with ham mixture, caramelized mushrooms and apple mixture. Cover with top of roll and serve.
