Monte Cubano

Ingredients

  • 2 slices dense white bread
  • 2 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • 4 dill pickle slices
  • 2 slices baked ham
  • 2 slices smoked turkey
  • 3 slices (1/2 oz. each) Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic cloves
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp. whole milk
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. unsalted butter

Directions

  • 1. Spread one side of one slice of bread with mustard. Top with pickles, meats and cheese.
  • 2. Combine mayonnaise and garlic. Spread on one side of second slice of bread. Place over cheese.
  • 3. Combine egg, milk, salt and pepper. Dip sandwich in egg mixture.
  • 4. Cook sandwich in melted butter in skillet on medium-low heat 3 to 4 minutes per side or until bread is golden and cheese is melted. Cut in half and serve.
